SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad's appointment as the new chairman of Felda would open a new chapter in the organisation's history, said Gabungan Wawasan Generasi Felda (GWGF) chairman, Tan Sri Rozali Ismail.
He hoped Mohd Isa would be more dynamic in his thinking in looking after the lot of Felda's second generation by focusing on the organisation's overall management.
Rozali believed that Mohd Isa's experience as Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar (MB) for 22 years would help him make Felda more progressive and competitive.
"Hence, Tan Sri Mohd Isa's presence will not be something unusual for the Felda settlers because as the Negeri Sembilan MB, he also oversaw the 49 Felda land schemes in the state," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Rozali said as Felda chairman, Mohd Isa must also be prepared to explain recent issues confronting Felda in an efficient and open manner so that the settlers and new Felda generation could feel relieved.
"This is important as of late there have been attempts by people outside Felda to tarnish the organisation's image by raising issues such as the replanting fund, land ownership and palm oil grading, or by making such allegations as that Felda is bankrupt."
Rozali said GWGF also wished to see the organisation be more transparent and comprehensive in planning for the welfare, social, educational and economic betterment of the Felda community under the new leadership helmed by Mohd Isa.
He said GWGF would always assist the Felda management and nation's leaders in ensuring that the Felda community was in sync with its objectives as outlined by the prime minister.
GWGF, established on Aug 23, 2002, is a coalition of several non-governmental organisations with more than 50,000 members comprising Felda's new generation.
